Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection was conducted to review contraventions noted on routine inspection #WBET-CGHRUB dated July 20, 2022.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Flooring in the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program is warped in several areas. The flooring now poses a tripping hazard to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please provide the Licensing Officer a plan stating how the ongoing issues with the flooring will be addressed.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Files for eight children were reviewed. A medical insurance plan was not available for two children and immunization status was not available for one child.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Files for eight children were reviewed Contact information for a doctor was not available for two children and contact information for an emergency person was not available for one child.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19160 - CCLR s.57(2)(i) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation: Files for eight children were reviewed. A photo of one child was not available.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a photo of each child is available.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: Care plans for two children were not available.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that care plans are available for all children who require extra support.

Comments

At the inspection dated August 3, 2022 there were six children and two staff present.
At this inspection the above contraventions were identified. The licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response.
This report was reviewed on site with a staff person and with the licensee by telephone. The report was written off site and a copy emailed to the manager.
