Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance. COVID-19 Pre-screening was completed at the door.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Four staff files were reviewed, one file was missing Immunization status. Manager stated that it was a new staff and would get that completed.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the staff files include immunization status.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Attendance records were reviewed, and there was no record indicating for each day whether a child is absent.
Corrective Action(s): Please develop a system to document if a child is absent from the program.

Summary of Inspection
During today’s inspection, there were 14 children, the manager and 1 staff on site.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
-Legislative requirements for height of playground equipment.
-COVID-19 BCCDC Cleaning, sanitizing practice, and storage practice was discussed.
-Review of COVID-19 exposure reporting process and Reportable Incident forms with Manager
-Requirement for a first-aid kit to be accessible to staff at all times, including when the group is divided in half for COVID-19 prevention measures.
