Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection to routine inspection #SHUN-BSDT2C was conducted. Areas of non-compliance identified at the last routine inspection were inspected for compliance.
Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Observed Violations
CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon arrival Licensing observed 4 children in care under the age of 36 months old. The Manager informed Licensing that this only happened today.
Licensing provided education, for the service type that is being provided, allows for no more than 3 children under the age of 36 months.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that children attending the facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more than that permitted in Schedule E.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Upon a review of 5 days of attendance records for the month of October Licensing observed 1 day that all of the children were not signed out.
This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that attendance records are accurate on a daily basis.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the follow-up inspection conducted today, October 16, 2020 there were 7 children, 1 staff and the Manager present. The Risk Screening - COVID 19 form was completed prior to conducting the inspection. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee has addressed the identified contraventions.
No further action is required from Licensing and Licensee.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
Work Safe BC; safety plan
Children's records; emergency contact information and photos are up to date and current.
COVID 19 Infection Control Assessment completed and a copy provided to the Licensee.
Education provided on exemption and Temporary Placement.

The contents of the inspection report was reviewed with the Manager at the time of the inspection. This report was written off site ( .5 hrs ) due to Covid-19 to help promote health and hygiene. A copy of this report was emailed to the facility.
