Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance ecept for the staff records which were recently reviewed at the leisure centre.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that there was no name of manager displayed.Manager stated that it was posted on the old license but was not reposted since receiving the new license.
Corrective Action(s): Licensee immediately posted her name up on the license.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the outdoor play equiptment.The older metal equipment was found to have chipped paint,sea saw has broken wooden seat with missing bolts and not enough resilient ground covering for the height of the equipment.
The upper play equipment was found to have chipped paint, melted slide and exposed cables due to cracked plastic casing.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to the equipment that poses a potential risk hazard and is not in good repair.Manager stated that the older metal equipment and upper playground would not be used.Children will have access to the new lower playground only.Manager will inform the school regarding the issues with the playground.

Comments

At the inspection dated December 5 2018 there were 14 children and 3 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified and corrected by the manager immediately.
Managers first aid was confirmed to be valid.
