Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of practice (DoLSoP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Licensing observed where the drywall was exposed in two classrooms, giving access to the drywall material. Licensing identified the areas in need of repair. Manager stated they are winding down for summer closure, and would put in a request for the repair which would be addressed before reopening in September.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
The COVID-19 Pre-screening was conducted at the door.
During today’s inspection, there were 13 children, the manager, and 3 staff present.
At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Manager is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
The following was discussed
Manager stated the files are in the process of being moved to the head office, the systems in place were missing some file information, however, the manger was able to confirm the records were in place at head office. It was discussed that they create systems to ensure staff files are complete.
Updated BCCDC Guidelines were reviewed. Cleaning and sanitization practices for nap bedding were discussed.
Cleaning of bathroom was reviewed and it was discussed that if a potty chair was not in use, it could be removed to give more space in the bathrooms.
