Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance. Licensing completed a full walk through of the upstairs of the home

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 7 children's files and observed that one was missing an enrolment date.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all information is complete at the time of enrolment.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: On review of 7 childrens files, Licensing observed that one child required a Care Plan as a diagnosis waas indicated in the registration file. Discussed with the Licensee.
Corrective Action(s): Licensing will email care plan information to the Licensee. This must be created in consultation with the parents and reviewed on an annual basis.

Comments

Summary of Inspection

At today’s inspection there were 3 children and the Licensee present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified
Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan by June 18th 2019
Licensing will conduct a follow up inspection to monitor the corrective action plan
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided through discussion:
- Promoting Active Play in the program
- Temporary Placements if required in the future
- Active Supervision particularly during a field trip
- Reportable Incident reporting to Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Bill 5 awareness – Facility has been receiving Licensing Officer’s emails.
- Recommends the removal of products with DIN numbers in the first aid kit
- Ensuring all digital images are available/accessible - currently some stored on a phone.
