Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the routine inspection it was noted that the manager's name was missing. This is a repeat contravention from 2022.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the manager's name is on display.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19210 - CCLR s.58(1)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation: During he routine inspection and the review of the children's files it was noted that a child with past trauma and history of behavioural outbursts did not have a care plan on site. This is a repeat contravention from 2022.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all children that require extra support have a care plan on site.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 20, 2023 there were 13 children and 5 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· A conversation was had regarding children with Immunization records not up to date.
· Active Supervision
· A conversation was had regarding provision of a quiet space for children that require to have quiet time to calm their body down.
