Routine inspection conducted. Facility used to be a food service establishment when it served desserts (e.g. gulab jamun) for immediate consumption. Booth has been dismantled and facility is now a food store. PARTIAL POWER LOSS at store at beginning of inspection, affecting walk-in cooler (meat) at 5C, walk-in cooler (display) at 9C, walk-in freezer at -6C to -8C, and display freezers at -6C.
- Hand wash station in meat processing area stocked with hot/cold running water, liquid soap, single-use paper towels
- Meat display coolers are at 3C
- Beverage display cooler at 10C (only for carbonated beverages)
- Whole vegetable display cooler at approximately 6C (only for whole vegetables)
- Chest freezers in store vary from approximately -18 to -22C
- Open display freezers at approximately -6C at beginning of inspection due to power loss. If items defrost and are over 4C for more than 2 hours, they must be discarded
All meats in coolers were transported to display coolers, which were functional at time of inspection and had extra space underneath.
- Dairy products in display cooler, including milk, were at 12C. Approximately 25 x 3.78L milk jugs were discarded at time of inspection. Pictures taken.
- Rasmulai (approximately 10 boxes @ 200g each), Milk-to-Go x 10 x 500 ml, milkshake containers (15 x ~300 ml) discarded, internal temperature at 12C, discarded
Other comments:
- Food products kept off the floor
- Bleach sanitizing pail had approximately 200 ppm chlorine residual
- Bulk storage bins in sanitary condition
- No evidence of expired and/or products past best before date
Staff members were sent home for the day during the inspection and food store was closed to the public. BC Hydro arrived on-site to assess power loss. A follow-up inspection will occur tomorrow morning to ascertain that power has been restored.
