Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #
LPEN-AWUVAC have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Staff records were reviewed and one staff did not have a current validation for their ECE Certificate.
Corrective Action(s): This was corrected at the time of inspection.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Fire Drill records were reviewed. Manager stated that March Fire Drill was missed in the preschool program. Program was only in session 2 weeks in March.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure Fire Drills are conducted monthly.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Daily attendance records were reviewed and found to be missing random time of departures in both the Preschool and School Age program.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure departure times are recorded daily for each child.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated April 4, 2019 there were no children as strong start was in session, 1 staff was present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee addressed one contravention at the time of inspection and is required to address remaining items.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
