Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area that is accessible to children;
- Lawn mower
- Uncoiled watering hose
- A barrier used to block access to the debree on the side of the home has detached from the fence.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: The manager could not produce the daily attendance record. The manager stated that she does have a chart that she uses. Education was provided on the importance of the daily attendance record.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that for each child there is a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Date to be Corrected: Immediately

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19350 - CCLR s.60(1) - Subject to subsections (2) to (5), a licensee must keep all records referred to in this Division for at least one year.
Observation: Manager has stated that yearly attendance records have not been kept. Education was provided on the importance of keeping all facility records.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all care facility records are kept as per regulationary timeline.

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 6 children 1 staff and the manager present. Licensing conducted a walk through of the entire facility
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer as indicated above. The Licensing Officer will review the response.
As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed. The risk assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation. This is used to determine inspection frequency.
The contents of the inspection report were reviewed with the manager and written on-site A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager and a paper copy mailed to the facility
The following was discussed with the manager;
- Minor incident log
-Enhancing reportable incident policy. Resources will be sent to the manager.
- Absent licensee replacement qualifications
The licensing officer's business card was provided at the time of inspection.
