Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Audit of 4 children's files revealed two files missing medical practitioner telephone number. The name of medical practitioner is provided however not the contact information
Corrective Action(s): Please obtain and maintain all legislatively required documentation at all times

Comments

At the inspection dated January 9, 2020 there were 2 children and 1 staff present.
Coded violations were noted during today's inspection; please provide Licensing with a written response stating how coded violations have been suitably addressed.

Licensee states that the upper living room and dining room would like to be converted in to the child care space. The lower floor space may still be utilized for time to time, however the majority of the time care will be provided on the upper floor.
The following items require addressing prior to use by children:
1. Light switch plate in place for light switch next to fireplace
2. Electrical outlets covered
3. Heavy/sharp items located on the mantle of the fireplace be removed or secured
4. Removal/securing of all sharp/adult use only items such as scissors, letter opener, paper cutters on the desk located upstairs

Please provide Licensing with documentation once the upper level of the home is ready for children in care.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Temporary Placements
· Lead in the Water
