Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12190 - CCLR s.22(2)(b) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation: Fire drill log for June was not recorded on the fire drill log sheet. Licensee informed that they had conducted the drill for month of June and had forgotten to record it.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the drills are recorded on the Fire Drill log sheet on a monthly basis.

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 6 and the licensee present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed:
-Emergency evacuation plan- Practice drill by taking the suitcase full of emergency supplies.
-Care Plan requirements for parent signature regarding consultation and annual review( Bulletin Provided)
- Reportable Incidents( Forms provided)
- CRC for family visiting temporarily
- Documents required to have licensee's daughter volunteer in the facility.
