Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Upon review of the children's files, one child did not have a medical insurance number recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the children's files are complete

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: Upon review of the children's records, 3 children did not have a start date recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the children's records are complete.
Date to be Corrected: November 15 2019

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Upon review of the attendance records, there were more than 5 children who had not a departure time recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children have an arrival and departure time recorded.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Upon review of the children's records, 2 children did not have a medical practitioner contact recorded. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the children's files are complete.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated November 8, 2019 there were 16 children and 2 staff present. Staff stated that there are 23 children registered in the program. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response as to corrective actions taken.Licensing will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.

Licensing discussed yard checks with the staff when leaving the facility.

The following education/recommendations were provided:

· Lead in the Water
