An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:
· Licensing
· Physical Facility
· Staffing
· Polices & Procedures
· Care & Supervision
· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control

· Records and Reporting
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Comments

I observed children working on Montessori materials and transitioning to snacks time.

The documents requirements for staff and maximum capacity of children in care were discussed.

Please ensure that the medication policy is followed. For example, completing the medication authorization form. The manager agreed to follow up.

The manager was aware of the new standard of practice about Screen Use and Active play. It appeared that children are playing outdoor daily and screen time was not part of the program.
This new standard of practice has came into enforce in September 2017.

2. Please develop Screen Use and Active Play policies if they have not been developed. These policies must be shared with the parents/ families as per the requirements.

Please provide a written response on how you have addressed the above noted concerns by Feb 19, 2018.
