Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: It was noted in the nap room, a book shelf over 3 feet in height not secured to the wall, and located next to a nap mat. This book shelf could cause injury in the event of an earthquake or if toppled over
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all shelving over 3 feet in height must be secured or removed

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation: During a test of the hot water temperature in the children's washroom, it was reading at 54.2 degrees Celsius. Hot water accessible to children in care must not exceed 49 degrees.
Corrective Action(s): Please adjust water temperature, in order to ensure it does not go above 49 degrees

Comments

At the inspection dated July 30, 2019 there were 3 children and 1 staff present.
Two coded violations were noted during today's inspection; Please provide a written response by August 12, 2019 stating how the coded violations have been addressed.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Temporary Placements
· Lead in the Water
