Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
MEDICATION: 16010 - CCLR s.53(1)(a) - If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation: There wee no written directions specified by the parent regarding the administration of medication.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the amount and the times of administering medication are specified on the medication administration form.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 5 children's records and noted 2 did not contain the date of enrolment at the facility.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children's records contain all required information, including the date of enrolment.

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated June 09, 2022 there were 4 children and licensee present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
