Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 3 staff files and a record of immunization status was not obtained for one employee.
Corrective Action(s): Please obtain a record of staff's immunization status upon hiring

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Licensing observed expired food and water in the emergency supply bin
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that food and water supplies are not expired

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: There was no record of last year's emergency evacuation drill. The manager confirmed the earthquake drill was practiced
Corrective Action(s): Please keep a record of yearly emergency evacuation drills

Comments

At this inspection, the above contraventions were identified. Licensing provided a date for addressing the contraventions and is requesting a written response by October 16th, 2023 advising on compliance.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The following was discussed:

· CRC’s
· Lead in Water
· New nap beds being ordered

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Manager and the report and risk assessment were written on-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
