Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
MEDICATION: 16030 - CCLR s.53(2)(a) - A licensee must ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, except that a child may have access to his or her own medication if (a) the child's parent has instructed the licensee to permit this.
Observation: A child's epi pen was stored on a hook at child level, accessible to children in the facility. Corrected while on site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that medication is not accessible to any child in the facility.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: Two out of 8 children's files reviewed were missing the enrolment start date. This was corrected on site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children have the date of enrolment listed on file.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated December 4, 2018 there were 17 children and 3 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy provided.
