Introduction

A scheduled inspection was conducted on December 9, 2020 to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas were inspected for compliance.
A Covid-19 Risk screening assessment was completed with the facility prior to this inspection.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation: Upon inspection of the outdoor equipment, there was some rotted wood along the perimeter of the playground where a piece of wood stuck out posing a tripping hazard. There were also 2 rusty nails sticking out slightly that could catch on a child's foot,posing a tripping hazard.Photographs were taken.This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all outdoor play materials accessible to children are safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

Comments

At the inspection dated December 9, 2020 there were 10 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee will provide a written response to licensing.Licensing will review the response. As part of this Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool & A Covid-19 Prevention Audit tool for Childcare settings was completed and copies were provided.

Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.

The following discussions were had with the Licensee:

· Snack time
· Covid-19 prevention Strategies
· Physical Facility-Children sitting on the floor in the Library & Outdoor equipment
· Health & Hygiene


The information contained in the report was discussed with the Licensee and Licensing stated that the report will be emailed to the facility.
