Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14060 - CCLR s.39(1) - A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation: On arrival Licensing observed Licensee talking on the phone in the outdoor garage area. Children were unsupervised indoors.
Corrective Action(s): Children must be supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an asssistant or a responsible adult.

Comments

At the inspection dated March 30, 2021 there were seven children and one staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified.
The following were discussed with the manager:
· Contents of the first aid kit.
· Active supervision of children
· Bar in the playroom to be made inaccessible to children at all times.
· Prominent display of the fire safety plan
The inspection report was written off-site – details were reviewed with the Manager prior to writing the report. A copy of the routine inspection report and risk assessment sent to manager via email on March 31, 2021.
