Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: The cord to a cordless phone charger was hanging near the children's level in one of the 30 months to school age programs. Licensing expressed concerns about the phone and charger falling on the children if pulled.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment at all times while children are in care.

Comments

At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. Licensing provided a date for correction and is requesting a written response by Sept 17th advising on compliance.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The following was discussed:

ยท Using a thermometer to monitor fridge temp.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the facility supervisor and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
