Introduction

Community Care Facilities Licensing (CCFL) inspected all care categories during an unscheduled routine inspection to assess compliance w/:
• the Community Care & Assisted Living Act
• the Child Care Licensing Regulation
• relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practices

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: 2 rodent bait boxes in the outdoor play space are accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Hazardous items must be made inaccessible to children.

STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: An employee's CRC is not licensee-specific.
Corrective Action(s): Employees' CRCs must be applied for, or existing ones shared w/ the licensee. In the meantime, this employee cannot work alone w/ children or assist w/ diapering/toileting.

STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: The corporation director's CRC expired a few weeks ago.
Corrective Action(s): The corporation director explained that she applied for her CRC a few weeks before it expired & is still awaiting the result. Until it arrives, she cannot work alone w/ children or assist w/ diapering/toileting.
