Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: 4 children files were reviewed today; 4 of them were missing their immunization status records.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that all children files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: 4 children files were reviewed; 4 of them were missing their start dates.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that all children files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: 4 children files were reviewed; 1 child's Dr information was missing.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that all children files are complete.

Comments

At this inspection dated March 15, 2024 there were 3 children and the Licensee present.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to take corrective action to bring facility into compliance. The contravention noted in this report were reviewed with the Licensee during today's inspection. This inspection report and the facility risk assessment were completed off site and emailed to the facility.

LO discussed and shared the following resources with the Licensee today:
- Napping equipment, i.e. playpen use
- Nap time supervision
- Storage for cleaning supplies and personal items: must be inaccessible and out of children's reach
- Online Reporting Procedure
- Trampoline in the backyard: equipment is used for personal use only; not accessible to the children in care
- Children's attendance record: to keep a record of all children under 12 in care, incl. Licensee's family member
