103 - Failure to hold a valid permit while operating a food service establishment [s. 8(1)]
Observation:
Premises does not hold a valid health permit, as the health permit fees for the 2021-2022 fiscal year, have not been paid. The premises is currently illegally operating. Hand delivered the outstanding permit fees letter to the owner.
Corrective Action(s):
Immediately pay the outstanding permit fees, in the amount of $150. Failure to pay the fees, will result in closure of the premises until they have been paid.

307 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not of suitable design/material [s. 16; s. 19]
Observation:
There are a number of equipment (ice machine, dishwasher, fridge) and shelves that are covered with the original protective plastic. This plastic is not durable or cleanable.
Corrective Action(s):
Immediately peel off all the plastic from the mentioned equipment and surfaces, and wash & sanitize all the surfaces to remove food stains and/or glue.

308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
Observation:
1) The lid of the ice machine is broken and it can not be securely closed to prevent items falling into the ice.
2) The seal/gasket of the u/c cooler, beneath the coffee station, is broken. Cool air is constantly leaking out, and the compressor of the cooler is constantly running which is increasing your electricity bill.
Corrective Action(s):
1) Repair/replace the ice machine lid so it can be securely opened and closed.
2) Repair/replace the seal/gasket of the cooler, so it prevents cool air from escaping and keeps food below 4C at all times.

Comments

A routine inspection was conducted, the following observations were made:
- Coolers 4C or colder; freezers -18C or colder; and thermometers present.
- High temperature dishwasher rinse cycle had a surface temperature of 73.9C, as per max/min thermometer.
- Hand sink stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- Bleach sanitizer in spray bottle had [Cl2] of 200ppm.
- All foods stored in food grade containers; covered; labeled; date coded; foods stored in groups; and foods stored 6" off the floor on shelves, rack or platforms.
- General sanitation level is good. No signs of pests.
- No expired foods for sale or in use. FIFO rules being followed.
- Proper labels are required to be placed on packaged food items not intended for immediate consumption. The label MUST have the following info:

Name of the business
Address and contact info of the business
Weight of the package/product
Ingredients list
- COVID-19 measures in place: masks worn by customers and staff; social distancing and traffic flow markers on floor; COVID-19 signs posted on the doors; and hand sanitizer available to customers and staff.
- Vaccine passport not required to be checked as the premises does offer table service. Customers order and pay at the POS; seat themselves; pick-up their own foods; and sanitize their space after use.
- Discussed inspection results with the owners, no signature obtained due to the pandemic.
