Introduction

Introduction An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Facility Risk Assessment Screening for COVID 19. All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance: The following topics were discussed social distancing Work safe plan Cleaning schedule Health illness policy Covid -19 infection Control Assessment conducted. The following resources were provided. COVID 19: public health guidance for child care settings Child Care and day camps protocol for returning to operation Resource package for child care

Observed Violations

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation: the twinkle lights are plug into a socket that the children can easily access and the twinkle lights cord could then become a strangulation hazard. Corrective Action(s): please ensure the light cord is secured so to be not accessible to the children. Date to be Corrected: Oct 1,2020 PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance. Observation: on the path outside the fourth step is loose and the nail protrudes form the wood causing it to be unsafe Corrective Action(s): please ensure the step is reinforced and secure and the nail no longer protrudes. Date to be Corrected: Oct 13,2020

Comments

Licensing reviewed social distancing of the children with the manager , currently the children all sit shoulder to shoulder at the table for eating .CCFL recommended that this would be the opportunity to socially distance the children by providing more room between the children , adding an additional table would help ease the situation. CCFL is recommending changes be made to the seating arrangements based on the pandemic situation.
