The following education was provided:
Covid-19 vaccine status for staff
There is currently a large cement manhole with metal handles located in the right side corner of the outdoor play space. The Licensee discussed of ways to make this space usable, ideas were submitted to Licensing via email. Licensing discussed the manhole can be covered safely and inaccessible to the children, however if the City requires access, material and equipment in the area should be easy to move.
Licensing reviewed the Licensee's diaper change practice. Diaper's are being changed on a change table in a bedroom adjacent to the children's bathroom. Proper sanitization procedures are implemented. Licensing discussed the supervision of the other children during diapering. The Licensee said older children are left in the play area to play while a diaper is being changed in the bedroom. Licensing informed the Licensee this isn't the best practice for supervision purposes and children not being changed should be supervised in closer proximity to the diaper change area. Options were discussed.
Licensing noted antiseptic wipes and After Bite in the First Aid kit. Neither of the items have been used on the children. Discussion was had with the Licensee to obtain parent permission prior to administering or remove the items from the First Aid kit.
Children's files were reviewed, it was noted 1 child did not have any alternate pickup. The Licensee said the family does not have any family members who live in Canada to be alternate pick-ups. Licensing informed the Licensee to inquire with the family if there are any friends that could be listed, if not a detailed description needs to be provided on what the family needs the Licensee to do in the event an emergency were to occur and the parents were unavailable.
Bins with art supplies were stored on a shelf by the children's eating area. Licensing suggested to prevent injury in the event of an earthquake the bins should be better secured.
This report was reviewed with the Licensee and written off site. A copy of both the report and Risk Assessment was emailed to the facility.
