Observation:
The ice machine scoop was being stored in the ice bin. This is unsafe as the handle of the ice scoop touches ice and when staff go to grab the scoop, they will touch the ice with dirty hands.
Corrective Action(s):
Remove the ice scoop from the ice bin and store it outside of the machine in a clean container.

Observation:
The new ice making machine still has its protective plastic cover on it. The plastic material is not cleanable.
Corrective Action(s):
Peel off the protective plastic cover to expose the stainless steel surface underneath it.

Comments

A routine inspection was conducted, the following observations were made:
- Coolers 4C; freezer was -17C; and thermometers present.
- Hand sink stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- Bleach present for sanitizing of dishes in 3-comp. sink. Ensure to mix up a sanitizing solution in a spray bottle every day, to quickly sanitize counter tops throughout the day (1 cap full of bleach into a spray bottle).
- All foods stored in food grade containers; labeled; date coded; and stored 6" off the floor on shelves.
- No expired foods for sale or in use. FIFO rules being followed.
- FoodSafe certified staff present.
- Renovations have been completed to the juice bar. A commerical 3-compartment sink with spray nozzle installed, along with a separate hand washing sink. The counter tops are smooth, durable, level, sealed and easily cleanable.
- General sanitation level is good. Minimal fruit flies seen.
- All in order.
