At the inspection dated May 18, 2021, there were seven children and one staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.
The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following were discussed with the manager:
· Daily screening of children
· Accessibility and contents of the Earthquake Emergency Kit
· Storage of toys and equipment in a way that does not pose a risk to children in an event of an earthquake. Manager mentioned large toys will be removed off the white shelf and stored at lower height.
· Curtains to be made inaccessible to children while nap room is in use.
· Covering the outdoor sand area when not in use.
· Exemptions requests for staffing
· Maintaining records of all children
· Maintaining log of minor incidents
· Licensing observed an outdoor hammock with stand in the outdoor play area. Manager informed that the hammock is used for personal use. Licensing recommended to have outdoor hammock inaccessible when children are using the outdoor play area.
