Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: During routine inspection 13 children's files were reviewed and one child's file was missing an MSP number.
Corrective Action(s): Manager said she will follow up with the parents.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: During routine inspection 13 children's files were reviewed and one child's file was missing a Dr name and phone nr.
Corrective Action(s): Manager said that she will follow up with the parents.

Comments

At the inspection dated October 25, 2024 there were 32 children, 7 staff and the manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.The licensee is required to address the contraventions, bring the facility into compliance, and provide a written response to Licensing by the date written below. Licensing will review the response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following was discussed:
· Entrance mats to be changed as they showed sign of curling.
· A door stopper to be provided for one of the toddler classroom for the nap room to prevent accidents.
· The emergency supplies system. Presently the staff use a suitcase but manager mentioned that it was heavy and difficult to move. Manager and staff are thinking about another way of transporting the emergency supplies.
· Parental permission for diaper cream and sunscreen.
· Replacement of change mat in infant room.
· The new system for CRC.
