Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 4 staff files and observed that a record of immunization status was missing for one staff.
Corrective Action(s): Please obtain, from all staff, a record of their immunization prior to employment.

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation: Some of the children's bedding were stored together on top of the mats in one of the 30 months to school age programs.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure bedding is stored separately.

Comments

At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensing provided a date for addressing the contraventions and is requesting a written response by Nov 3, 2023 advising how the contraventions have been addressed or will be addressed.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Director and the report and risk assessment were written on-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
