STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation: On review of five staff files, Licensing observed the following:
- Three staff did not have any written references, or information as to whether references were sought for these individuals.
- The Manager had two references on file when the requirement is three.
Licensing does acknowledge that there is a staff evaluation system in place for all staff.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff are appropriately screened prior to employment.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Immunization status was not obtained for one employee.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff are appropriately screened prior to employment.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13060 - CCLR s.56(1)(d) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.
Observation: On review of the parent handbook which contains policies that are to be provided to parents, Licensing observed that there was no Active Play or Screen Time policies available.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure these policies are available to all parents

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19210 - CCLR s.58(1)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation: No care plan available for a child requiring extra support. Support worker for a child in care indicated that a 3rd party provides some tools and methods for supporting a child requiring support, on a regular basis.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that any child requiring extra support has a care plan developed in consultation with appropriate persons, to assist staff in providing appropriate care and supervision.
