Introduction

A routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP)
All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.
COVID-19 prevention strategies were reviewed and discussed

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: During inspection of the emergency supplies it was found that some of the food had expired.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure there are enough supplies in place to recover from an emergency.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: During a review of 4 children's file, it was found that one file did not have the name of medical practitioner identified.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all children's files are complete

Comments

During this inspection, there were 4 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee included here. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The Licensing Officer met with the manager and discussed the following:
· Increased sanitization procedures
· Facility supplies of cleaning products and paper products
· Facility sickness policy
· WorkSafe BC Child Care Protocols for Returning to Operation

The following resources were provided:
· Corona Covid-19 BCCDC
· HealthLink BC Hand Washing
· Dishwashing 3 Sink Method
· Cleaning and Sanitizing Schedule
· Safe and Healthy Diapering
· Universal Precautions
· How to Wash your Hands Like Mom is Watching

A discussion was had with Licensee regarding Protocols for Returning to Operation. This is a requirement by the Order of the Provincial Health Officer. Documents pertaining to this Order were provided via email May 26, 2020. Protocols developed by Licensee must be posted in the facility or available on the program website.
