Observation:
A staff's lunch was being stored on top of bricks of butter (for the business) in a cooler. Business foods must be stored away or separately from staff food to prevent contamination.
Corrective Action(s):
Relocate staff food and ensure it is stored separately from business food in a designated cooler, or on a designated shelf separate from business food. Ensure all staff are informed of this change.

Observation:
The splash guard inside the ice machine had rust stains or mildew on it. This can contaminate the ice.
Corrective Action(s):
Remove the splash guard, and wash & sanitize it to remove the stains or mildew. Prior to doing this, cover exposed ice with a clean, food grade material to prevent the ice from becoming contaminated from debris when removing the guard. Or, turn off the ice machine and remove all the ice prior to cleaning the guard in place.

315 - Refrigeration units and hot holding equipment lack accurate thermometers [s. 19(2)]
Observation:
The upstairs fridge, storing butter, had no thermometer. A thermometer is required to be placed in each cooler, freezer and hot holding unit so staff can monitor and ensure the temperatures are correct.
Corrective Action(s):
Purchase and place a thermometer in the upstairs fridge to ensure it is 4C or colder at all times.
