Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19210 - CCLR s.58(1)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation: Licensing observed emergency medicine; however, no care plan created for the child requiring extra support. The staff was able to verbally to communicate the course of action and signs and symptoms should the child require support.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: Licensing observed that a care plan was not annually reviewed.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the review of care plans occur at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19320 - CCLR s.59(a) - In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation: Licensing observed that a staff file could not be found within the community care facility.
Corrective Action(s): Please keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in section 56 to 58.

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 7 children and 3 staff present. Licensing conducted a walk through of the entire facility.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer by January 10, 2023 The Licensing Officer will review the response.
As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed. The risk assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation. This is used to determine inspection frequency.
The contents of the inspection report were reviewed with the delegated staff and written on-site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager and a paper copy will be mailed to the facility.
