Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation: During inspection, licensing reviewed emergency evacuation plans, there was no record that the emergency plan has been implemented in the past year.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that each employee practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 14 children's files, of those, 1 file did not contain the name of the medical practitioner.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep for each child a record showing the name of a medical practitioner.

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 5 children, and 1 staff present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Written response is required once licensee once contraventions are addressed.

The following was discussed:
Discussed emergency preparedness, and evacuation plans.
Licensing reviewed administering of medication procedures with staff.
Discussed the use of the non reportable log book.
