Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection it was observed that 3 plug outlets were missing a plug cover. The licensee took some plug covers from a cupboard and covered the outlets during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: During the routine inspection it was observed that 2 walls had chipped paint and dry wall was exposed.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the facility is in good repair while children are in attendance.

Comments

At the inspection dated September 29, 2021 there were 9 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
