Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: One staff was missing immunization status from file. Licensee requested the staff acquire this and submit as soon as possible, while Licensing was on site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure each staff has immunization status documented.

STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One staff file is missing ECE validation through the ECE registry.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure each staff files contains validation of qualifications.

NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES: 17010 - CCLR s.48(1)(a) - A licensee must (a) ensure that each child has healthy food and drink according to the Canada's Food Guide.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): It was observed that the fridge temperature measured at 7.1 degrees. Licensee turned the fridge temperature down while on site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure fridge temperature is 4 degrees or under to maintain healthy food and drink for children.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated March 4, 2019 there were no children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
