Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Fridge temperature not maintained between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the temperature of the fridge is between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection of three children's files, two did not have the sex of the child recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure there is a record for each child that includes the following: name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection of three children's files, two did not have enrollment dates.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure there is a record kept for each child the following: date of enrollment in the community care facility.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Upon inspection of three children's files, one did not have the name or telephone number of the medical practitioner.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a record is kept for each child with the following: name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 19, 2022 there were 3 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The manager will send licensing a written response addressing the contraventions and Licensing will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Temporary Placements
· Diapering Process – Using a single use pad or a plastic pad that is sanitized between use
