Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection to routine inspection #SHUN-BLQQA2 was conducted. Areas of non-compliance identified at the last routine inspection were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: Licensing observed that the one staff's criminal record check is still addressed to another facility. The Licensee informed Licensing that a sharing form has been completed and submitted. However, the Licensee could provide no evidence that the form has been submitted to the criminal record check department.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that current staff records are kept.
Date to be Corrected: March 23, 2020.

CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: Upon arrival Licensing observed that there were three children in care younger than 24 months old. Licensing provided education to the Licensee that based on their service type there can be no more than two children in care younger than 24 months old.
The Licensee was unaware of this regulation.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that children attending the care facility are divided into groups with each group having no more than that permitted in Schedule E.

Summary of Inspection
At the follow-up inspection conducted today, March 9, 2020, there were 5 children and the Licensee present.
The Licensee has addressed all previously identified contraventions except the ones noted in the violation section. The Licensee is required to correct all identified non-compliances by the dates indicated above in the violations section. A written response is to be provided to Licensing on the date specified for Licensing to review that appropriate corrective action has been taken to address all identified non-compliances.
