Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services
· Program
· Records and Reporting
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: There is a child who started the facility month before being eligible for the 30 month age requirement, verification of DOB was verified from 2 different records. This child will become age requirment shortly, but was accepted withoutmeeting the age requirement.
Corrective Action(s): In order to attend the child care program, the child must be 30 months of age

Comments

The following was discussed as part of the inspection:
Flushing lead out of for drinking water
Circle time, snack, free play and outdoor was observed, as well as the transitions.
Active supervision
Updated Reportable Incident reporting.
