Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSOP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed: Licensing; Physical Facility; Staffing; Polices & Procedures; Care & Supervision; Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control; Medication; Nutrition and Food Services; Program; Records and Reporting.
As part of the Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Inspection report was reviewed with manager before report was signed and printed.
Licensing would like to thank the staff and children of SFUCCS: Los Ninos for their time and assistance during today’s inspection.
Licensing discussed the new Active Play policy with staff during inspection.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

* During inspection Licensing observed some uneven pavers in the outside play area, these may become a tripping hazard in the future if they continue to sink. Staff stated that they will monitor the pavers & add soil to the sunken areas in an attempt to lessen the tripping hazard.

During inspection children were: eating snack and then engaged in free play in the outdoor area.

Licensing observed children: playing on a climber/ slide; using bubble wands, pouring water and cleaning items at a water table; playing a ball hanging game; assisting staff with watering the garden etc.

During inspection Licensing noted staff interacting with children while they were engaged in their activities as well as assisting children with problem solving when necessary.
