308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Small "magic chef" white coloured one-door refrigeration unit in the back room was at 7 degrees C at the time of inspection. This refrigeration unit contained frozen butter that had been moved recently from the chest freezer into it.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the refrigeration unit is maintained at or below 4 degrees C. Operator adjusted this refrigeration unit to 4 degrees C or less during the inspection.

315 - Refrigeration units and hot holding equipment lack accurate thermometers [s. 19(2)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One-door refrigeration unit was equipped with an inaccurate thermometer.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure each refrigeration unit is equipped with an accurate thermometer. Operator moved the thermometer from the front beverage cooler (used to store non-potentially hazardous food drinks) into the one-door "magic chef" cooler in the interim and plans to purchase a new accurate thermometer for this fridge.

Comments

Handsink in the front service area was supplied with liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and single-use paper towels.
2-compartment sink was supplied with hot and cold running water and drain plugs. Liquid soap and paper towels were also available at the 2-compartment sink.
Manual wash, rinse, sanitize, and air dry method was reviewed with the Operator.
100 ppm chlorine sanitizer was available in a sanitizer pail.
Food storage areas appeared clean at the time of inspection.
No signs of recent pest activity were present at the time of inspection.
Pest control program via Terminix Canada is in place on a weekly basis (every Wednesday). Operator was able to access a pest control report dated May 4, 2022 on her phone. This report indicated no pest activity.
Dry goods in the back storage room were covered.
Chest freezer used to store butter was at or below -18 degrees C.
Beverage cooler at the front area is used for non-potentially hazardous food drinks only (e.g. bottled pop).
Operator with valid FOODSAFE Level 1 training (expiration date: September 8, 2025) was present on shift.
Operator informed that two other staff members at this food service establishment hold valid FOODSAFE Level 1 training. It was reviewed that in the Operator's absence, at least one staff member on duty is required to hold valid FOODSAFE level 1 or equivalent course training.
Signature on this report is not required due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
