Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Television stored on waist height shelf was not secured.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Two areas in the bathroom had rust or exposed dry wall preventing sufficient cleaning. This had been discussed in the previous routine inspection. Licensee stated they would be sanding and painting these areas.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

STAFFING: 12180 - CCLR s.22(2)(a) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.
Observation: Fire extinguisher on site needed servicing November 2021.
Corrective Action(s): Pleas ensue that all equipment is serviced regularly.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19060 - CCLR s.57(1)(a)(b)(c) - A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation: One child in attendance had no file, and was not included in the daily attendance.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep current records for each child while in care.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 9 children, 1 staff, and the facility manger present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

Care plan licensing requirements were reviewed
Reviewed use of Reportable Incident forms
Best practice for food storage
Ensuring there is a thermometer in the fridge that stores food.
