Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #KINE-BY5NPP have been corrected.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations

STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person. Observation: A review of 3 staff files found that 1 file was missing verified references Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff files are complete Date to be Corrected: March 11, 2022 STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs. Observation: A review of 3 staff files found that there was no evidence of 1 person's immunization status. Corrective Action(s): Ensure all staff files are complete Date to be Corrected: March 11, 2022

Comments

During this inspection, there were 17 children and 3 staff present. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Licensing Officer met with the manager and discussed the following: Care plan development Application to amend existing license This report was written off site; therefore, no signatures were captured at this time. Time reflects on site visit. A copy of this document will be provided to the facility via email.
