Introduction

A scheduled focused routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Areas of the facility that were inspected for compliance were physical facility, care and supervision and health and hygiene.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #SHUN-BD3MHF have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area;
- There is a broken wooden panel on the bottom of the wooden play house on one side. There are four nails protruding out from this area.
- Three big wood boards/panels resting against the wired fence.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a safe and health environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the routine inspection conducted today, April 23, 2020, there were two children and two staff present. The Risk Screening - COVID 19 form was completed prior to conducting the inspection. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee is required to correct all identified non-compliances by the dates indicated above in the violations section. A written response is to be provided to Licensing on the date specified for Licensing to review that appropriate corrective action has been taken to address all identified non-compliances. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
COVID-19 prevention ; social distancing, cleaning and sanitization practices and hand washing
Children's emergency contact information
Wear and tear of furniture
Sanitizing; schedule and outdoor equipment
Screen time
Bleach and water solution; how often to change the solution.
Reminders to children on covering their sneezes and coughs

The inspection findings were reviewed with the Licensee at the time of the inspection. The inspection report was written off site and a copy of this report and the risk assessment will be emailed to the facility.
