Introduction

All care categories were inspected during an unscheduled routine inspection to assess compliance w/:
• the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA)
• the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR)
• relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practices (DLSP)

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The manager's name wasn't displayed in the facility.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The nap room's door frame seal was peeling off from the top of the door to halfway the height of the door. This strip was accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please replace this seal.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): There were 7 children in care but 6 children signed in.

Summary of FIR #CGEE-C5JM2D (30/Jul/2021)

3 violations were observed today, in which 2 violations were corrected during the inspection & corrective action for the outstanding violation includes replacing the nap room's doorframe seal.

Licensees & employees play a key role in protecting children from, & minimizing the impact of infection & illness. CCFL discussed hand washing, cleaning, & physical distancing as per the BC Centre for Disease Control & the BC Ministry of Health's "COVID-19 Public Health Guidance for Child Care Settings" (http://www.bccdc.ca/Health-Info-Site/Documents/COVID_public_guidance/Guidance_Child_Care.pdf).

The inspection was reviewed w/ the licensee; however, this report & the Facility Risk Assessment Tool were written @ the Burnaby Health Protection office & emailed to the licensee on 03/Aug/2021.
