Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: Licensing observed medicated diaper creams and plastic bags on a low shelf which was accessible to the children in care.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a safe environment.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated July 24, 2019 there were 32 children, 8 staff, the manager, a Practicum Student and a Support worker were present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions was identified.
Action required by the licensee includes providing a written response by July 30, 2019.
Actions required by Licensing include reviewing the written response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

The following education /discussions were had:

· Updated Attendance system was reviewed
· Reshuffling of resilient surfacing
