Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager:
-Fridge temperature not maintained between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius.
-Some household/building materials (e.g. wooden planks and baseboards with nails sticking out are stored within the outdoor deck area) accessible to the children
-Gap on the outdoor deck by the gazebo poses entrapment. Any opening/gap must be smaller than 9 cm or bigger than 23 cm.

Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided while children are in care.

Comments

Summary of Inspection

At today’s inspection there were 4 children and the Manager present. A complete walk through of the home was completed today. No concerns.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager is required to address the cited items and provide a written response to Licensing for review. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report via email.

The following were discussed:
-Temporary Placement
-Extra Support for children
-Emergency Supplies
-Fire Extinguisher service date (tag)
-Outdoor play space log ( for all inspection, maintenance and repairs)
-Physical facility: fence
