Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All care categories were assessed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: LO observed and discussed following with the Manager:
Outdoor play space: an open hole (about 10 cm diameter) on the ground needs to be covered. This poses entrapment and trip/fall hazard. The Manager said that replacement cover will be purchased to address this issue.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

Comments

On the inspection date of November 1, 2023 there were 2 children and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee include to bring the facility into compliance and submit a written response to Licensing for review. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. The content of this inspection was reviewed with the Manager onsite and the copy was provided.
The following items were discussed today:
- CRC
- Health and Hygiene, i.e. single use towel only to dry hands after hand washing
- Active Supervision
