303 - Equipment/facilities/hot & cold water for sanitary maintenance not adequate [s. 17(3); s. 4(1)(f)]
Observation: Hot running water was not available at the 3-compartment sink. Dishwasher was turned on during the inspection however all the sinks had run out of hot water during the inspection. Operator stated that they were expecting the water to become hot again in 2 hours.
Corrective Action(s): Hot running water for sanitary maintenance is required at all times of operation. Make sure there is hot running water available at the 3-compartment sink (minimal of 45 degrees C). Section 32 Public Health Act Closure ORDER was issued. Do not open the restaurant until you have written health approval to re-open the restaurant from the district Environmental Health Officer of Fraser Health. Contract a certified/licensed plumber to assess the hot water tank and the underlying issue that led up to the lack of hot water and make the necessary repairs/replacements to ensure this issue is prevented in the future. Provide a copy of the invoice from the plumber after they have done an assessment of the hot water tank.

Dishwasher will be checked at the time of the follow up inspection and it must be able to maintain a temperature of at least 71 degrees C at the plate level after the final rinse cycle.

401 - Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
Observation: Both handwashing sinks lacked hot water later during the inspection and temperature was measured at 17 degrees C. Operator stated that this issue has occurred before from using too much water and that they expect hot water to return after 2 hours.
Corrective Action(s): Hot running water is required at each handwashing station to enable proper handwashing during hours of operation to protect food from contamination. Public Health Act Closure ORDER was issued. Make sure there hot running water available at each handwashing station. Remain closed until you have written health approval to re-open the food premises from the district Environmental Health Officer of Fraser Health.

Observation: Paper towel dispenser near the handwashing station was jammed. Operator could not repair it at the time of inspection. A roll of paper towels was available on the counter across the handsink.
Corrective Action(s): Repair or replace the paper towel dispenser at the handsink; Correct by January 9, 20120 (within 1 week).

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Cleaning and sanitizing chemicals (detergent and bleach) were stored on a shelving unit higher than dry food (whole onions and potatoes).
Corrective Action(s): Operator moved the cleaning chemicals below the 3-compartment sink to prevent contamination of the dry food.
